A few things to start the year off that you will need to
know.
1.
Our first
fundraiser happens on Saturday morning, Sept. 28th. We require volunteers to man the table where
we are selling tickets on an “Autumn Theme” basket and selling 50/50 tickets. Times are: 7 – 9am,* 9 – 11am and 11 – 1pm. Our *9 – 11 slot has been filled.
2.
Would each music family please send in an item
for the “Autumn” raffle basket by Wednesday, September 25th.
3.
We have a select number of band instruments
available for rental from the school.
Mr. Moralis, our band director, will be looking after this. If you rent from the school you will receive
a rental form to fill out. Once that is
returned with payment your child will be able to take their instrument
home. Our instruments are well “loved”. If you would like to rent a less “loved”
instrument please go to Long and McWaid Music on Prospect Street.
4.
Show Choir trip.
The red tape is rolling. We are
in process of applying to the province for permission to take the Show Choir to
the Maine State District 7 Show and Jazz Competition. This competition takes place either the week
before our March Break or the week after.
It will probably be a day trip but that will be determined by the
performance times. Information will be
passed on to you as it arrives.
5.
Our Music Department is not school sponsored
therefore we function with the assistance of our wonderful parents. We have openings in our NMS Music Committee
for: secretary, Chair (or co- chairs if we have two), Concert Organizer and Fundraiser Organizer. Email Mrs. Ross if you can help or have any
questions.
6.
The Band Schedule will be given to each band
student and it will be posted on the Music Blog.
7.

Strings (violins, etc.) – Ms. Katherine
